Textile DPP: the Digital Product Passport for apparel, footwear and home textiles
The textile Digital Product Passport is the EU's answer to fast fashion, mislabelled fibre content and the millions of tonnes of clothing that end up incinerated each year. Textiles are one of the first categories named under ESPR, and apparel brands selling in the EU are preparing ahead of a delegated act expected in 2027, with compliance likely from around 2029.
Tracevora gives apparel, footwear and home-textile brands one structured ESPR-aligned data model, a readiness score that flags missing information, a dynamic QR code for each product passport and a multilingual public page. A dedicated textile template will follow as the delegated act defines the category-specific fields.
- Fibre composition with % by weight
- Country of manufacture per processing step
- Recycled and bio-based content claims with evidence
- Care, repair and end-of-life sorting instructions
- Dynamic QR code printable on care label or hangtag
- Company-scoped collaboration with admin, manager and viewer roles

Working with your supply chain
The hard part of a textile DPP is not the page — it is collecting accurate data from cut-and-sew suppliers, fabric mills and certifying bodies. Tracevora's company-scoped workspace lets colleagues collaborate as admins, managers or viewers while keeping each company's data separate. Supplier-specific, SKU-scoped access and passport locking are on our roadmap.
QR codes on care labels
Tracevora generates a downloadable dynamic QR code for each product passport. The QR resolves to a permanent passport URL, so consumers can scan it for care and repair, retailers for traceability, and waste operators for sorting — one code, one passport, one source of truth. Dedicated wash-label sizing and full GS1 Digital Link URI support are on our roadmap.
Frequently asked questions
- When does the textile DPP become mandatory?
- The ESPR delegated act for apparel, footwear and home textiles is expected to be adopted in 2027. ESPR delegated acts generally apply no earlier than 18 months after entry into force, so textile DPP obligations are most likely to bite in 2029. Brands preparing now are doing so early by choice, not by deadline — and that is the right call, because supplier data collection takes longer than the software does.
- Which products are in scope of the textile DPP?
- Finished apparel, footwear, home textiles and accessories sold in the EU, including imports. The exact scope and data fields will be confirmed in the delegated act, but fibre composition, country of manufacture, care, repair, recycled content and end-of-life sorting are expected.
- Does every garment need its own QR code?
- Yes. Each SKU or item must carry a unique data carrier — typically a QR code printed on the care label or hangtag — that resolves to its Digital Product Passport.
- What sustainability data does a textile DPP include?
- Typical fields are fibre composition (in % by weight), origin of each manufacturing step, recycled and bio-based content, presence of substances of concern, washing and repair instructions, durability indicators and end-of-life sorting guidance.
- Can Tracevora handle a full apparel catalogue?
- Yes. Brands can import a season catalogue by CSV, add fibre and certificate evidence in the company workspace, and publish product passports with downloadable dynamic QR codes. Supplier-specific access and dedicated care-label sizing are on our roadmap.
